French WEEE eco-fee on invoices: the law and Dolibarr

Published on 2 July 2026 · 4 min read

If you sell electrical and electronic equipment in France, you must show the éco-participation (the French WEEE eco-fee) on the invoice. Not an option: a legal obligation. Here is what the law says, and how to apply it without spending your days on it in Dolibarr.

What the law says (L.541-10-20)

For household equipment, article L.541-10-20 of the French Environmental Code requires that the eco-fee amount be passed on and displayed separately down to the final consumer. Concretely: the amount must appear clearly on the document, apart from the product price.

💡 "Displayed separately": a dedicated, readable line with an explicit label — not an amount buried in the price.

Ecosystem, Ecologic: the French WEEE bodies

The French WEEE stream is run by approved eco-bodies, mainly Ecosystem and Ecologic. They publish official eco-fee tariffs per equipment category. The right amount therefore depends on the product type — hence the value of an up-to-date catalogue.

The challenge in Dolibarr

As with Recupel in Belgium, Dolibarr does not handle the eco-fee natively. The result: lines added by hand, copied tariffs, and a real risk of omission or wrong amount — with a non-compliant invoice at the end.

The Qwimo module “Eco-contributions & éco-participation”

One module for France (WEEE eco-fee, Ecosystem & Ecologic) and Belgium (Recupel & Bebat), activated according to the company's country. Compliant lines (art. L.541-10-20), official tariffs, tariff annex. Multi-company, Dolibarr 18 → 23.
